HIGHLIGHTS (2- 1) Wolves Man City  reaction as Blues suffer first Premier League defeat

Follow all the build-up, in-game updates and post-match reaction from Manchester City's Premier League visit to Wolverhampton Wanderers

Manchester City travel to the Midlands today as they aim to extend their perfect start to the Premier League season against Wolves.

The Blues have won their first six league matches, and if they win today it will be only the second time in their history they'll have won seven out of seven - the last time being 126 years ago.

Perhaps more importantly, a win would see them remain clear at the top of the table. They start the weekend two points ahead of nearest challengers Liverpool and Brighton, with Tottenham and Arsenal only a point behind them.

Pep Guardiola continues to manage a depleted squad - he's still without Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Kevin De Bruyne through injury, and Rodri is suspended after his sending-off against Nottingham Forest. He could bring Matheus Nunes in for a start on his return to Molineux following his big-money move to Manchester in the summer - something he spoke about in an interview with the MEN here.

Wolves have had a difficult start to the season, sitting in 16th place with only four points to their name so far.

Pep refuses to blame referee

Pep Guardiola has dismissed suggestions Manchester City lost due to referee Craig Pawson.

Hwang Hee-chan - the match-winner - was almost sent off for a second bookable offence when he brought down Kyle Walker in the first half.

"Do you think I’m going to give an opinion about the referee?" he said after the game. "I can be emotional on the touchline, here I’m respectful about the job.

"We didn’t lose because of the referee, today we didn’t win not because of the referee but ourselves. This is what is going on in the last time."

FT: 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Wolves 2-1 City

Hwang's winner seals it for Wolves as City taste defeat for the first time this season. There's some afters between Grealish and Semedo at full-time which sees both men booked.

The gap without Rodri was keenly felt today, with Kovacic and Phillips both struggling in the position. Wolves repeatedly got in behind the City back line with both goals coming from Nathan Ake's fllank.

93' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Phillips shoots over

City finally have an effort in added time as Phillips' shot is deflected over. Doku has a chance from the corner but it's again down Sa's throat.

90' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Six minutes added

Still time for City.

88' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Lashing down

City are trying but just can't break through the gold mass of bodies in front of the goal. The rain is pouring now, too.

82' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Another shot from distance

You know City are struggling when their defensive players start taking shots from distance. Kyle Walker is the latest. It doesn't look like it's going to happen for the Blues.

82' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Doku sparks some handbags

Hwang goes down holding his leg on the touchline so Doku tries to push him off. It predictably kicks off some handbags which sees Sa booked.

79' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Grealish on

Grealish comes on for Ake, it's not been a good day for the Dutchman but how will City cope now there's no left-back on that leaky flank?

75' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

Phillips goes close

Phillips is given some space on the egde of the box and goes close with his effort but City are once again resorting to shots from distance.

71' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

City once again rattled

The home fans are making a cauldron of noise and City haven't recovered from the set back yet. If anything, Wolves look more likely to double their lead as they repeatedly catch City exposed at the back.

Grealish is warming up but no sign he'll be coming on just yet.

67' 2-1DANIEL MURPHY

A weakness that wasn't dealt with

Wolves have had so much joy down City's left, with both goals coming from there. It's a wonder the situation wasn't changed with Ake struggling against the pacey Neto and Semedo.

65' 2-1KEY EVENT

Goal. Wolves back in front

Wolves get three bites of the cherry and Hwang finally sticks it away after Semedo gets in behind Ake.

61' 1-1DANIEL MURPHY

Brilliant from Dias

It's lively in here. Wolves fans feel their team should have had a free-kick before City scored from one. Wolves nearly catch City out again but Dias makes a vital interception when the ball was nearly passed to a free attacker in the middle.

59' 1-1KEY EVENT

GOAAAL! Alvarez!

Alvarez has levelled with a stunning free-kick into the top corner which Sa couldn't quite claw out.

Kovacic is booked just after the restart for a rash challenge.

51' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Better from City

Foden, Doku and Bobb combine with the latter squeezing the ball into Haaland but the striker's effort is tame. Better from City.

49' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Long half in store

City are seeing a lot of the ball but are being resorted to centre-back's shooting from distance. It's going to be a long half of Wolves waiting to counter and City trying to break them down.

45' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Back underway

There's a big a call at the break with Oscar Bobb on for Matheus Nunes.

HT: 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Half-time: Wolves 1-0 City

Dias heads straight at Sa and that's the half. City poor in a hostile atmosphere as Wolves have them rattled. A Dias own goal is the difference.

45' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Three minutes added on

Nunes nearly gets on the end of a ball in the box but Sa gathered. The midfielder was let off the hook earlier after a sloppy touch gave the ball away but Wolves couldn't take advantage.

40' 1-0TYRONE MARSHALL

City struggling to break through Wolves' back-line

This has been poor from City and with Guardiola in the stands there has been no touchline presence. I can’t recall seeing a single member of the coaching staff in the technical area during the first half. Jose Sa had very little to do and City struggling to really test the Wolves defence.

Doku fires well over.

39' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Lemina booked

Lemina is booked for nipping at Nunes' heels, which doesn't go down very well.

35' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Pep won't be enjoying this

The game has grown scrappy and frantic in the last 10 minutes, with possession changing hands quickly and both sides missing chances to get in behind the other's defence. It's entertaining but City are living dangerously.

29' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Great pressing from Foden

Foden doggedly wins the ball back off Ait-Nouri in a dangerous position and wins a corner.

26' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

City getting back on top

City are starting to pose a threat again with Ake causing some chaos after getting on the end of a free-kick. City now have another.

24' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Hwang booked

Hwang catches Akanji high on the leg and is shown a yellow.

20' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Doku fires wide

Doku brings down a cross-field pass from Walker nicely but his resulting shot is well wide of the far post. The Belgian is looking dangerous though.

20' 1-0TYRONE MARSHALL

City on the ropes

Wolves look a real threat on the break and Neto, in particular, is giving Ake a torrid time when he gets a chance to run at him. Ake’s desperate attempt at a tackle in the lead-up to the goal showed how concerned he is with the Portuguese winger. Nunes is playing well despite the treatment from the home crowd, but City haven’t really got going yet and look a little unsettled. Walker ran over to Haaland in the centre circle before he restarted after the goal for an animated chat.

17' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Neto proving a problem

Wolves are proving dangerous on the counter with Neto's pace a particular worry down the left. This time the move doesn't quite pay off as some theatrics from Walker earn a freekick.

15' 1-0DANIEL MURPHY

Wolves confident

Wolves have got straight back on the ball and are taking the game to City, who are looking a little rattled. Ait-Nouri leaves Walker kicking air with one bit of skill but the defender recovers to win a goalkick.

13' 1-0KEY EVENT

Goal. Wolves lead

Kovacic and Foden lose the ball in the centre, Neto shrugs past Foden and Ake in a great run before his shot deflects in off Dias.

11' 0-0TYRONE MARSHALL

Amount of Nunes boos tells a story

You see a lot of half-hearted booing at games these days, but this is total commitment from the Wolves fans towards Nunes, who is getting a few X-rated chants in his direction as well. But you can tell how much City are having of the ball but how regularly the jeers are coming. Wolves can’t get out of their own half and Nunes is in possession a lot. This could be a long afternoon for those Wolves fans if they maintain the stance of booing his every touch.

9' 0-0DANIEL MURPHY

Sloppy Kovacic

Kovacic is playing in the deep Rodri role, the tip of a diamond defence, but has been a bit sloppy on the ball in the last couple of minutes. A strong Dias challenge has just bailed him out but he needs to be firmer in his passing.

5' 0-0DANIEL MURPHY

Nunes nearly shuts Wolves up

A fantastic lofted ball by Dias finds Nunes behind the defence, he lays it off in front of goal but Haaland can't get to it. City are building some pressure.

4' 0-0DANIEL MURPHY

City leap to Nunes' defence

Nunes is getting loudly booed and whistled every time he touches the ball and he's been called two nasty swears so far. It's making for entertaining viewing. City have tried to defend him with their own chance but they're out voiced so far.

2' 0-0DANIEL MURPHY

First shot

Akanji has the first shot as he tries his luck from distance but it's blazed well over.

1' 0-0DANIEL MURPHY

We're off!

There's some choice words from the Wolves fans for Nunes and a loud boo as he touches the ball. Followed by a cheer when his pass is slack.

14:56DANIEL MURPHY

Players are coming out

The war on the senses continues as plumes of fire as shot out in front of the away fans and the advertising boards begin a flashing light show as music continues to blare. The players are out at least, let's get this show on the road!
