Welcome to football.london's live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur vs Liverpool in the Premier League as Ange Postecoglou's side look to build on their unbeaten start to the league season.

Spurs sit fourth in the Premier League following their 2-2 draw at Arsenal in last Sunday's North London Derby, with a display that drew plaudits from many pundits and supporters. Now Tottenham face another tough test in the shape of Jurgen Klopp's Liverpool side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

It is set to be a packed out ground with the supporters in good voice after the exciting start to the campaign and Tottenham will need that vocal backing against another side in great form this season, with Liverpool having taken their second spot in the table after their 3-1 win at home against West Ham last weekend.

The Spurs head coach provided an update on Friday on some of the injury worries from this week with James Maddison and Son Heung-min taking part in training in recent days but Brennan Johnson, who suffered a hamstring strain during the draw at Arsenal, will miss out on the game.

Our Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold brings all the build-up, match commentary and reaction from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The game kicks off at 17:30 BST.

Another red card

Another Liverpool red card. Two bookings for Jota within a couple of minutes. Daft challenge on Udogie. He could have got one earlier as well for a challenge on Bissouma.

19:02ALASDAIR GOLD

Spurs sub

Solomon comes on for Son, who looked like he was struggling a bit moments before. He didn't train much this week and goes off to a standing ovation from the crowd.

18:52ALASDAIR GOLD

In the net

Spurs have the ball in the net but it's offside. Maddison plays another lovely ball but Richarlison is well offside before he pulls it back to Son to fire in.

Sarr has a shot from outside the box which is down the middle and Alisson holds.

The second half kicks off

Liverpool have made a change, Jota coming on for Gakpo.

18:26ALASDAIR GOLD

Here are Alasdair's thoughts on that first half

Both sides had started the game trying to play their football and it was the visitors who had the better of the chances in the early exchanges with Guglielmo Vicario making a double save from Gakpo and Robertson.

Then came the red card and it was one. Curtis Jones did not appear to be intending to hurt Yves Bissouma but it was an out of control challenge that ended up connecting high up the Spurs midfielder's lower leg, above his ankle.

The referee Simon Hooper was pointed towards his pitchside monitor by his VAR team and he duly upgraded the yellow card he initially handed out.

After Luis Diaz had an effort ruled out for offside, Spurs compounded Liverpool's woes when Maddison's glorious ball through to Richarlison ended with the Brazilian teeing up Son to flick home his 200th goal since moving across to European football from Korea.

Liverpool still had plenty of threat and they showed that when they hit a goal back in added time at the end of the first half. A ball fell to Cody Gakpo in the box after finding space behind Micky van de Ven and he turned and fired a powerful shot home from close range.

Diaz had a late effort, again the normally imperious Van de Ven losing his man, but thankfully for Spurs he slid it wide.

Tottenham need to turn the screw in the second half while being very aware that Liverpool are a dangerous beast on the break.

18:24ALASDAIR GOLD

Half-time

Well that was an eventuful first half.

18:23ALASDAIR GOLD

Chance for Diaz

Another big chance for Liverpool as Diaz got in behind Van de Ven and slid a shot just wide.

18:21KEY EVENT

Liverpool level

Liverpool hit a goal back in added time at the end of the first half. A ball falls to Gakpo in the box and he turns and fires a powerful shot home from close range.

18:14ALASDAIR GOLD

Woodwork

Richarlison hits the post but the offside flag is up soon after.

18:07KEY EVENT

Son scores

Son scores! A lovely ball through by Maddison puts Richarlison away down the left and he pulls it across for the Spurs captain to flick home. 1-0 to Tottenham.

18:05ALASDAIR GOLD

Offside

Diaz runs on to a Salah pass and fires the ball into the net but the flag goes straight up for offside and VAR concurs.

18:04ALASDAIR GOLD

Richarlison shot

Richarlison blazes a shot over the crossbar from the left-hand side of the Liverpool box after an exchange of Spurs passes.

17:57KEY EVENT

Red card

Red card for Curtis Jones. His boot connected so high up the side of Bissouma's lower leg. The crowd make their feelings known when they see the replay after the decision.

17:50ALASDAIR GOLD

Good defending

Good flying block from Sarr to deflect a Jones shot wide.

17:43ALASDAIR GOLD

Saves

Double save from Vicario to deny Gakpo and then Robertson.

17:41ALASDAIR GOLD

Great ball

Lovely low ball across the face of goal by Richarlison but nobody on the end of it.

17:41ALASDAIR GOLD

End to end start

Both sides moving the ball quickly around, just probing for an opportunity.

Berbatov's view

Dimitar Berbatov has been giving a preview to Betfair ahead of the game.

I think it'll be a tough game, and Spurs need to be ready and take chances.

Liverpool have serious attacking power. Look at Nunez, Salah, and others. Both teams have players who can score goals.

Maddison and Son are either scoring or creating goals. Their midfield also looks solid. They're taking chances and enjoying their football.
